What do graphic designer artist people use to get their drawings on their computer?

I’ve seen time-lapse videos on how to “draw” stuff on their computers with programs like photoshop and opencanvas. I’m new at this, so I want to know what they use to get their pencil-paper drawings onto it! PLEASE HELP I WANT TO GET STARTED!
